Q&A Archive

These were the questions asked during the University of Birmingham Dubai live question and answer session live event.
Tina asked:

is there transportation provided by the university from bur dubai

Bal replied:

Hi Tina, we will be offering transport, there will be a minimum of 3 routes within Dubai, expecting to take on major residential areas for our student population, including Deira and Bur Dubai. Designated pick-up points are to be confirmed within the most convenient location within our student group.

These routes will be planned around the students that have accepted their offers and paid their deposits.

Abdul Ahad asked:

What extra-curricular activities can the students take part for in the university?

Bal replied:

Hi Abdul, we will be making arrangement for students to be able to:

  • access sport facilities,
  • form student associations,

We will also be providing curriculum enhancing activities to enrich the curricular development, in additional to activities that enhance the social community of students.

Ahmad Abdussamad asked:

Will you offer UAE visa for students enrolling in Dubai campus?

Bal replied:

Hi Ahmad, We will offer student visas for the charge of 850 AED, there will be a designated team to handle the visa procedure. Our role is to facilitate the process by acting as sponsor for the visa application, and submit the documents to the UAE immigration authorities.

Isha asked:

For the MSc International Business Course, what would be the agenda and workload of students : for example, what would a typical week look like? Also, are there opportunities to earn a little while we study (and would you recommend that)?

Mei-Na replied:

Hi Isha,

The MSc International Business programme is delivered through weekends (Fridays and Saturdays) and two weekday evenings (Monday and Wednesday). There will be 24 hours of classroom and 6 hours online tutorial for each module, and you will need to complete 12 modules during the academic year, plus a final dissertation. It is an intensive programme but yes you can do some part-time work , though there is a limitation on the numbers of hours that you are allow to work with a student visa.  My email address is m.liao@bham.ac.uk Please do get in touch if you have any questions about the programme.

I hope to see you in September.
