Virtual Pre-Departure Live Chat: The Americas

Welcome to our virtual pre-departure briefing event. Carl, Andy and Joelle will be online on the 10th of July from 11pm until 3am (BST/GMT+1) to answer any questions you may have about the University of Birmingham.

Your questions will be posted on this feed once it has been answered, which might take a little time if we receive a lot of questions. Please don’t worry if you don’t see your question and its answer immediately – you only need to submit each question once and keep an eye on the feed for when the answer is posted.

During this Pre-Departure Briefing you can get specific information about travelling to the UK from your country. Each country also has its own dedicated page on our website. There is also some information available on practical matters (such as what to pack and starting your university life in Birmingham).

Hello, I am going to study a PhD in Economic at Universiity (international student) and I nned accomodation for me and my parnter, Could you tell me if the University has accomodation for couples? Could you suggest me any village or type of flat for couples?. thanks

Joelle replied:

Hello,

Thanks for your question. We do have accommodation for couples that is managed by the University.

As an international student you are guaranteed University managed accommodation in a single study room if you apply by 31 July. This does mean that our accommodation guarantee does not extend to couples accommodation, however we will do our best to accommodate you, especially as you are an international student.

Page 19 of our accommodation brochure provides a summary of the accommodation types available – couples might be interested in the Duplex, Studios and Apartments.

If you wish to look for private accommodation the University has some guidance on these pages.
